At Colégio Casa Mãe, ranked as the best school in the country by various media outlets in 2024, I have the unique opportunity to put my full range of expertise into practice. Working alongside a team of highly qualified educators, we strive for excellence by blending pedagogical innovation with a steadfast commitment to student success. This elite environment allows me to continuously refine my teaching methods while contributing to a culture of high achievement.
My approach to English language acquisition is rooted in the implementation of gamification elements within a digital framework. By transforming the classroom into an interactive ecosystem, I bring fun and memorable dynamics to the learning process, ensuring that students are not just passive recipients of information but active participants in their own linguistic journey.
A cornerstone of my current work is the strategic use of Artificial Intelligence in education. I focus on teaching students how to use AI tools effectively and, most importantly, ethically. By providing an educational standpoint on these emerging technologies, I empower my students to leverage AI as a sophisticated study partner, preparing them for the digital demands of the future while maintaining academic integrity.
Beyond the standard curriculum, I spearheaded the extracurricular English Club at Colégio Casa Mãe. My primary objective was to prepare young learners for their Cambridge exams by utilizing a blend of gamification and AI-driven study assistance. This targeted approach has turned rigorous exam preparation into an engaging, high-success endeavor.
Known within the workplace for a high degree of creativity, I am also responsible for the planning and execution of theme days throughout the academic year. I operate under the philosophy that we are always just one well-planned execution away from a truly transformative educational experience. This allows me to bring innovative, large-scale ideas to life, further cementing the school’s reputation as a leader in creative and effective education.
During my internship at CIP - Centro de Inovação Pedagógica do Politécnico do Porto, as a research and teaching assistant, I gained a deep understanding of pedagogical innovation. Working alongside some of the best educators in my field, I had the privilege of helping organize and participate in an international conference (P.PIC 24) and presenting a paper on the use of AI in classrooms. This experience at one of Portugal's most prominent educational HUBs allowed me to develop comprehensive knowledge about innovative teaching practices. The result of my work was invaluable—building strong professional networks and earning a solid "20", the highest grade an intern can achieve.
In the course of my work as a translator and interpreter at TESE - Associação Para o Desenvolvimento, I gained a deep understanding of the demanding nature of interpreting, where quick thinking and precision are key. At the same time, being a translator taught me the importance of autonomy and self-management. This dual experience provided invaluable lessons, with the most significant being how to adapt to working with people from diverse cultural and professional backgrounds. It sharpened my communication skills and flexibility, helping me thrive in high-pressure environments and ensuring that I deliver quality work, no matter the challenge.
While pursuing my degree in Languages and Foreign Cultures at the Escola Superior de Educação do Politécnico do Porto, I took on several part-time jobs to support myself. Working as a cook in a Vietnamese restaurant taught me how to manage stress in a high-pressure environment. My experience in construction helped me build resilience and endure physically demanding work. As a robot maintenance technician in a factory, I honed my problem-solving skills, often having to improvise solutions when faced with unexpected issues and limited resources. Each of these roles enriched my ability to adapt, think on my feet, and persevere.
As a teaching assistant at "Ensina Mais", I took my first steps towards a career in education. This role allowed me to engage directly with young learners, helping them to overcome academic challenges while developing my own understanding of effective teaching methods. I gained valuable experience in lesson planning, tailoring educational activities to meet individual student needs, and managing the classroom environment. It was during this time that I truly realized my passion for teaching, as I navigated the complexities of working with children and found creative ways to inspire and motivate them in their learning journeys.
At Nespresso, I had my first professional experience, where I gained a solid foundation in teamwork, customer service, and worksite responsibility. This role taught me how to collaborate effectively with colleagues in a fast-paced environment, ensuring that customer needs were met with a high level of care and attention. I developed strong interpersonal skills by interacting with clients, while also learning to manage various tasks and responsibilities on-site. This experience instilled in me a strong sense of accountability and the importance of delivering exceptional service in every aspect of my work.
